Expressive 1 uses music that can be used in a number of
ways. Used in the performing arts the works can be used for a choreographed
dance, however, its strength is its use in creative movement in drama and dance.
Reaction to the music in a free form movement of the student’s choice. However
there are also structured information sheets on each track giving definite
structure and a number also include pages to be copied and handed to students to
complete theme lists. This exposes students to a possible wider range lexicon
contributing to their literacy skills. Expressive 1 deliberately contains
non-popular music which means students cannot fall into methods of movement that
are currently popular in their social life or that which is portrayed in pop
video clips.
